Please be kind and compassionate and follow the steps below to ensure you and your fellow students feel comfortable as you practice together.
Before entering the classroom - Sign in at the yoga desk. Leave your shoes outside yoga room. Turn off cell phone, pagers or beepers. If you forget to turn your cell off and it rings, get up and switch it off. Don’t take the call!
Be on Time - Please plan to come to class at least 5 minutes prior to the start of class, sit quietly on your mat to prepare yourself mentally for class.
Coming in Late - If you are late, please do not interrupt the Opening Invocation. Wait outside or enter the room and sit quietly at the back – don’t start to set your mat up. Wait for your teacher to acknowledge you and invite you to join the class.
Respect the Teacher - Please follow the directions of the teacher. Do not do variations unless you have the teacher’s permission.
Do not come off your mat to assist another student unless you have the teacher’s permission.
Questions - Feel free to ask questions during the practice, but try not to monopolize the teacher’s time. Personal questions about your practice can be asked before or after class.
Injuries - If you have an injury, please let the teacher know before the class.
Relaxation – Don’t put your blocks, belts, and blankets away during Savasana.
Hygiene – Personal hygiene is an integral part of practicing yoga. Please ensure that you and your gear are clean and that you don’t have strong perfume or body odor.
Equipment –Please don’t step on someone else's mat.
Leaving Early – Don’t leave the room in the middle of the Savasana. This is one of the most important yoga poses and it is extremely disruptive to peel your mat off the ground and leave while everyone else is trying to relax.
If you do need to leave early, tell your teacher at the start of class, and give yourself a few minutes to relax in Savasana.
Space for Everyone - As the room fills up, please work together to create enough space for everyone and a good flow of energy through the room.
New to Class – Go to the back of the room so that you can see other students and follow along.
AFTER CLASS:
- If you have borrowed one of our mats and it is wet, please leave it on the floor, it will be cleaned and dried later in the day.
- Please put blankets, blocks, and straps away tidily – fold blankets and place them the way you found them, wrap straps up.
These are the ways that you can help us maintain a peaceful, harmonious and enjoyable environment. Namaste
