We offer many different forms or styles of yoga. All of our teachers
are experienced and offer the highest standard of teaching. We encourage
students to find the right class and teacher. Student comfort, safety
and enjoyment is our utmost concern. Please let your teacher know
before class of any injury, serious illness or if you are pregnant
or recently had a baby. Classes marked with ** are new.
Anusara Yoga - (open to all levels with prior
yoga experience) Developed by John Friend, Anusara is a heart oriented
and inspiring style which combines the precision of biomechanical
alignment with balanced energetic action. This class is vigorous
and fun.
Ashantga Yoga - level 1/2 - is a dynamic practice
that strengthens and purifies the body, energy and mind leading
to stillness. Developed by Pattabhi Jois it involves a series of
set postures practiced in sequence known as the Primary Series.
Atomic Yoga - This class involves an integration of various
sun salutations, asana, pranayama, dharana and dhyana to promote
a fun and safe yoga practice. You never know what to expect so be
prepared to work, laugh and leave invigorated!
Ashtanga improv - This class is free-flowing and challenging.
Warm-up with the opening of the Primary Series and then work postures
from the 2nd series that loosen the hips and open the shoulders.
Classes will explore in depth twists, backbends, arm-balancing and
inversions. Previous yoga experience is recommended.
Ashtanga / Power Yoga - level 2 - This challenging
flow of postures bases itself strongly in the traditional methods
of Ashtanga yoga while utilizing the benefits of some more creative
sequencing. A class that integrates strength with gracefulness for
a balanced body and mind. Power up as you unwind.
Baby and Me - Postnatal Yoga class is a great way to support
the body's recovery after birth. In Postnatal Yoga classes, postures,
breathing techniques, and meditation offer a practice that supports
healing, relaxation, and toning. Mothers bring their babies for
an experience that incorporates yoga and bonding with the baby.
Baby's ages range from one month to walking (around one year). These
classes are a wonderful way to connect with other new mothers in
a supportive and healthy environment. Dad's are also welcome to
join the fun of doing yoga with a young one.
Basic - Students of any age and experience are
invited. This class provides a strong foundation in the practice
of yoga, integrating breath, movement and posture. Experience the
benefits of yoga and deep relaxation.
Funyasa - open level - Hatha Funyasa
is a vigorous class consisting of thoughtfully sequenced poses linked
together to the rhythm of the breath. This class will challenge
your physical stamina. Using a light-hearted approach you'll be
invited to do kinetic variations of static poses and core-strengthening
favorites.
Gentle Yoga offers a slower paced introduction to yoga asana
(posture) and pranayama (breath). We will focus on learning basic
poses of a Hatha Yoga practice, coordinating movement with breath,
and relaxing and renewing in restorative poses. Special attention
will be paid to the use of props in adapting poses to make them
more accessible, and more comfortable, to all.
Hatha - Suitable for beginners, practitioners who want to
deepen their skills and knowledge and those returning to yoga after
a lapse in practice. The class will offer progressively challenging
poses with ample explanation concerning proper form and alignment
from different yoga styles. The overall goal is postural awareness,
core strength, upper body strength and flexibility.
Iyengar - As taught by B.K.S. Iyengar this class uses props and
specific instruction, intended to adapt every pose to individual
need, heal injuries and beneficial to all. Ideal for beginners.
Kid's Yoga - 4-11 yrs. - A wonderful way for
kids to stretch, play, strengthen, relax and meditate. Suzanne has
over seven years experience teaching yoga for children.
Kundalini - Kundalini Yoga is known as the most powerful
form of yoga. It is an esoteric practice with an emphasis on healing
and awareness. It involves breath, movement and meditation to integrate
body, mind and spirit. This practice balances the glandular system
and tones the body providing strength, stamina and flexibility.
Meditation - This free half hour guided meditation class
inspired by the teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda will use simple
techniques of mantra, breathing and concentration to help calm and
focus the mind.
Prenatal Yoga - Stretch, breathe and relax as
you prepare your body and mind for your birth day. Classes are open
to all levels of experience and stages of pregnancy.
Restorative Yoga - it is the yoga of non-doing; it is the
core practice underlying the essence of yoga. Even those with an
active dynamic practice will benefit greatly from the inner peace
and deep release of a restorative class. It is the practice of entering
into yoga postures using props. One experiences the yoga postures
as profoundly relaxing and deeply rejuvenating, invoking a natural
state of healing rest, renewal and equanimity. Supported and passive
yoga postures allow the body to naturally release, letting go of
held tension and stress.
Skanda Yoga - is a breath-inspired class that is based on
an intelligent power vinyasa format. Skanda Yoga uses alignment
to honor the basic form of the pose, instills the pose with breath
and energy and seeks formlessness through the union of Shiva/Skakti.
It is a free-style that honors and embodies techniques from all
yoga systems. A Skanda Yoga class invokes the warrior spirit through
a challenging and inspiring practice, so the student feels self-empowered
to pursue their goals in life with greater determination. **the
class is for intermediate to advanced students, but is open to beginners
with a strong desire to learn.
Vinyasa Flow - level 1/2 - A fun, challenging
and inspiring class. Focused on the integration of breath and movement.
Special emphasis being put on strength, flexibility and alignment
of the body and mind.
Yoga for Alignment - Yoga for Alignment, is a class inspired
by the teachings of Allaine Stricklen, Iyengar and Patanjali (sutras).
We use props to allow a proper alignment in the asanas (yoga postures).
We bring awareness and awaken the intelligence of the body. In the
practice you experience the yoga postures (asanas) as profoundly
strengthening and liberating; guiding you toward a state of alertness
and relaxation: sattvik.. We include yoga philosophy in the teaching.
The asanas, and pranayama (breathing techniques) affect your emotional,
mental, and physical state. Yoga for Alignment is Union. You receive
teachings on how to integrate yoga in your everyday life. Advanced
practitioner will benefit highly from this class, to improve the
alignment in their practice and integration of Yoga. Beginners will
receive a deep, holistic understanding of yoga, and appropriate
alignment in the asanas.
The Wall - The Wall class is an adaptation from the Iyengar
tradition. The wall used as a prop aids students in alignment, going
deeper in poses and holding poses longer. Students can progress
in their own practice in a safe manner while opening the energy
flow of the body to aid healing. The following will be explored;
standing poses, hip openers, shoulder work, inversions, back bends
& spinal regeneration.
